Facebook Causes Application

Facebook Causes Application

Facebook Causes
Facebook Causes application was founded on the belief that in a healthy society, anyone can participate in change by informing and inspiring others. The most successful movements have always been born out of and held together by the bonds of real world relationships, and online social networks present never before seen opportunities for organizing. We strive to build tools for people to mobilize their friends for collective action, spread the word to friends of friends and acquaintances, and eventually launch movements that span local communities or even the globe.

Because we believe there are infinite ways to positively impact our world, anyone can create a user-created advocacy group on Causes. This group, called a “cause,” is the building block for all activity on the site. We strive for equal opportunity activism, which means that causes created by nonprofits and causes created by concerned individuals share the same level-playing field. Unlike other models that favor organizations with large budgets, causes rise and fall based on how well leaders organize and keep their communities engaged and mobilized. Cause administrators can post announcements to the cause and communicate with members through email and Facebook notifications. Members can discuss the issues, share their experiences, post media, and sign petitions. Causes can choose whether or not to fundraise by selecting a beneficiary organization to receive donations; these donations are automatically delivered monthly. To learn more about how donations work, click here.

There is no one way to measure a cause’s success: a cause can spread awareness to a new demographic, teach users how to make changes in their daily lives, raise money to reach important goals, or encourage people to share personal stories and find support. To read success stories, click here.

Whether you are an activist who wants to stop genocide or a nonprofit that promotes literacy, Causes can be your platform. It is a tool to help people go from caring about issues to doing something to make change. Anyone can change the world. How will you?

Facebook Introduces Usernames

Facebook usernames is what has been missing from the leading social network’s platform. While some social platforms like LinkedIn have relied well on the usernames in URLs, Facebook has followed the traditional approach of assigning a user number to its members and getting profile information by ID. Not anymore! Facebook is planning to launch a username system which will allow the users to track and reach their friends exactly by typing the username as part of the URL, http://www.facebook.com/username.

Usernames for Facebook Pages

It’s not just with user profiles; the marketing giants will be looking forward to embrace the new URL structure to revise their Facebook marketing campaigns. The new URL structure is planned to be implemented on the Facebook Pages and each page can have a unique name which the administrator will be able to choose on first come first serve basis. So those who want to protect their trademarks from potential misuse have been advised by Facebook to contact theme here.

Usernames for New Members

For those who have joined Facebook on or after May 31, 2009, such users wouldn’t be able to choose the username which I believe is pretty good measure to prevent the abuse. Usernames would be available on http://www.facebook.com/username on Saturday, June 13 from 12:01am EDT. Once selected the username cannot be changed or transferred to anyone else, so take your time and choose a best username for yourself.

Pay with Facebook

Using PayPal? Thinking to switch over Google Checkout? How about paying with world’s favorite social network? Well, not yet but it could be possible soon. Facebook has launched yet another exciting feature that will not only prove to be a great source of revenue for the company but will also be useful feature for its massive user base.

Pay with Facebook

Initially, the app GroupCard has got the honor to get the “Pay with Facebook” feature integrated into it where users can use the feature to purchase any of the premium items listed therein for amount between $3 to $25. When users click the “Pay with Facebook” button, a new popup appears showing the total price in Facebook credits and offering Facebook credit purchase options. Facebook bills the credits to a credit card you have on file, or you can enter a new credit card in the popup window.

Now that Facebook is starting to roll out its virtual currency payment service to platform applications, demand for Facebook credits should increase dramatically – which would mean substantial revenue increases for Facebook. With the Facebook Platform economy estimated to be potentially as high as $500 million in total transaction values this year, Facebook could potentially add several million dollars to the bottom line simply by capturing a small piece of the overall market.
